I’m Samantha Monson, a counselor with over ten years of experience, beginning as a school counselor and now working in private practice. I received my Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Counseling from Clemson University. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed and humanistic principles, integrating elements of feminist therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I’m dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their emotions, process experiences, and navigate life’s challenges.
I provide counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship conflict, self-esteem, and other stage-of-life concerns. My counseling philosophy emphasizes collaboration, empowerment, and a deep understanding of how past experiences and systemic factors shape our present lives. I value the use of evidence-based treatment and incorporate modalities like EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) into my practice. As Francine Shapiro, the developer of EMDR, stated, “The past affects the present even without our being aware of it.” I continually evolve my approach through self-reflection, cultural humility, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Originally from Tennessee, I’ve lived in the Upstate for about ten years. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, traveling, running, reading, and spending time with my family, friends, and my rescue pup, Summit.
